The Farmers
Ian & Rachel, Nora & Grant
We didn’t know it at the time, but our farming journey began when we moved to the woods outside Lutsen, MN. We had been interested in local food for a long time and were eager to start a garden and grow our own. That first garden plot, located on a south-facing slope a short walk through the woods from the yurt we lived in, became an obsession. We enlarged the garden space the following season and began to sell vegetables at the Grand Marais farmer’s market. We are now entering our ninth season of farming, and that original garden plot has grown to a little more than half an acre.
We are a no-till, no-spray farm. We believe the key to nutrient-dense and delicious food is soil health and diversity. We follow organic principles and focus on preserving and building the soil in which we grow our vegetables.
Our mission is to provide the residents and visitors of Cook County with locally grown and highly nutritious vegetables using sustainable farming practices. We love growing, and eating, good food!
